FOOD 4 EDUCATION

Food 4 Education is a Kenyan-based non-profit organisation with an ambitious vision to contribute to “a world where no child has to learn on an empty stomach”. They’ve created the blueprint for an efficient and affordable school feeding programme that delivers daily nutritious meals at scale

We were tasked with evolving the brand to fit a progressive, modern and expansive context. One wherein child-friendly cues are paired with data-driven communications, and the expressiveness of the visual identity can be dialled up or down.


We designed a visual identity system that keeps youthfulness, flexibility and boldness at play throughout various brand applications. This approach allowed us to design a brand that interacts appropriately with the children, their parents and respective stakeholders throughout varying touchpoints.

Logo Rationale:
The sans serif typography in the identity is kept simple and slightly rounded to maintain a friendly, child-like tone while encouraging a fuss-free and complimentary interaction with the rest of the brand identity system. The carrot, spoon, and pencil motifs are a callback to the existing equity in the illustrations of the previous logo, representing the organisation’s efforts to bridge the gap between food and education in Africa by providing nourishment for learning. Integrating iconography seamlessly within the wordmark offers more flexibility across its multiple touchpoints.


Brand Intention:
The intention was to create a unified visual identity that embodies F4E’s energy, innovation, and pioneering spirit. The sum of bold, fun, sophisticated and friendly brand assets creates a visual feast that is both impactful and nutrition-oriented. This is reflected in a vibrant palette of warm, playful colours that capture the dynamic personality of F4E. The choice of typography mimics the likeness of the logo, which enables cohesion. Iconography was introduced to add a layer of child-like expressiveness where necessary.
